Virginia Legends Walk
William Henry Harrison
1773-1841
Charles City County

Harrison attained nearly 50 million acres of land from treaties with Native American tribes. This resulted in a rebellion by Indian leader Tecumseh, and led to the Battle of Tippecanoe, which made Harrison a hero of the War of 1812. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate and as Ambassador to Columbia. As the ninth U.S. President, he was the first elected Whig Party candidate.
