Gen. Marshall graduated VMI, beginning a long career of public service including Secretary of Defense, Secretary of State, Army Chief of Staff and helping to develop NATO. His "Marshall Plan" for European economic reconstruction earned him the Nobel Peace Prize, as the first solider to win that honor.
