“The First Family of Country Music,” They switched emphasis from hillbilly instrumentals to harmony vocals, made scores of standard country music classics, and made their “CarterLick” guitar playing the dominant technique for decades. The first group inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1970, they also earned a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2005 and Grammy Hall of Fame songwriting recognition in 1998.
